Meet the Instructor: 

25 years ago, in the middle of a medical career, I had a mid life epiphany and chose to include art in my life.

I have since completed a Certificate in Drawing and Painting at the Haliburton School for the Arts and followed that with studies at The Toronto School of Art, the Academy of Realist Art, the studios of wonderful painters Jonathon Williams, Donna and Tom Dickson, Britt Zeist, Jane Dill, and Kathy Bailey.

My first mentor and inspiration were a wonderful Canadian painter named Jean Townsend. At her behest I began to travel annually to San Miguel de Allende. It was there I began to learn silversmithing with Abelardo Gil. I followed up with jewelry fabrication courses at George Brown College.

I love the medium and have been devoting more and more of my time to making jewelry. I have branched into work with Precious Metal Sintering, kiln firing pieces in fine silver and base metals. I am now a certified Art Clay Silver instructor.

Most recently I have started adding colour to metal with inks, paints, and enamels, as the wheel is coming full circle.

The principles which informed my painting are the same as those that inform my jewelry, namely finding beauty and fun in the ordinary through form, light and colour.
